Apartment

Last night was our apartment warming party, and I must say it was a huge success! I’m really happy my school friends got along so well with D and her girl, and it was wonderful that Carrie just happened to be up from PA, so it was good to catch up with her, even though I wound up leaving other friends to cause mischief.

However, the pictures have left me a little less than pleased with myself…I really need to buy a scale and start actively getting into some shape other than round…

So I suck at blogging every day…but I’m still blogging a lot more than I usually do! This past weekend I was writing a research paper for my Student Development class, and have another (thankfully much smaller!!) paper due in my Financial Affairs class on Thursday. Luckily for me, I have tomorrow totally off, which is not unusual, but I ALSO have Wednesday off from class, so will be home and working on the paper as of about 2pm. Yes, I’ll do some work on it tomorrow…but I’m making mac and cheese (my first time making it not from a box!) and hanging with D tomorrow night, so can only get so much done. I’m just really stressed out and overtired…

I also want to spend some time tomorrow cleaning since we’re having people over this weekend and I don’t want us running around all stressed out on Saturday morning.

So, how should we go about convincing our neighbor that it’s NOT a good idea to allow his dog to think my backyard is it’s personal toilet? I know me–if I go over there, I’m going to get all upset, wind up opening my mouth and do no good. I AM going to put my camera by the bedroom window so I can take pics of the dog every morning since my room looks out over the backyard.

Well, I’m off to a meeting for a class project, then printing off articles for the research paper due Monday. I’m kinda glad I have no plans during the day Friday, and that userinfowtbrosie is working her part-time job on Saturday morning–I’ll have time to get the paper done, I hope :D

We’ve gotten to the point of moving in where we’re decorating. We’ve got some pictures up and are slowly distributing our other stuff around. I’m also working on organizing since I have free time lately.

Only one of my classes has posted to Blackboard and I’m kinda pissed about it. I want to buy as many of my books online as possible because, quite frankly, I’m broke. And cheap.

Girl Scouts–I’m not sure if it’s doing to be a good thing or if it’s going to slowly kill me. Hopefully it’s only because we are just starting out for the new year. I don’t even have a troop and I’m already running raged! I just need to figure out some stuff, prioritize and realize that I don’t have to do everything myself.

Here’s the backstory: Yesterday, while doing the laundry that had piled up during the move, I made the following Tweet, “I had no idea laundry could be such a process” I was posting this  on Facebook in reply to a comment on it, but I think it’ll be too long.

I got there with a ton of quarters, but they don’t TAKE quarters, you have to use a card. So I had to beg the other patrons to change quarters into a dollar so I could buy the card (I only had 10’s on me). Thank the gods someone was able to do so, I’d already put the laundry and detergent into the machine. I also had to figure out how to work the card–put it in, THEN select the cycle. The dryers required me to do that for every block of 8 minutes I wanted…

I’m going to say we’re about 97% done with the move. All the furniture, most of my stuff and the cats are in. We’re heading back to Plymouth Saturday to pick up the last of the stuff that’s ours and that should be about it. There is still some cleaning and organizing that needs to be done, as well as some shopping (especially for bathroom stuff!), but the three of us are really pleased are are settling in. The boys are slowly getting used to the new place and were all over us last night, which is way better than hiding like they were Tuesday night when they arrived.

Well, the verdict has come in. I can’t get a reduced schedule at my current job, so as of Sept 1, I will be unemployed unless I am able to score an Assistantship or some other job(s) to help with making ends meet for the next 2 years. Luckily, userinfowtbrosie is starting her new job on Monday, so that will help a lot with her end of things. Yesterday I applied for a PLUS loan to cover the NU and living expenses that my financial aid package doesn’t cover (which of course, is most of it). Unfortunately, due to the timing of my acceptance and all, I am too late to apply for most scholarships. I’m still hunting them down, but I’m really not counting on anything from that source this year.

Speaking of NU, I’m really getting my crap together for next month. I’m registered for classes, half-way through my summer reading, getting my immunizations records Friday, and will be looking into the NU health plan later on today to see how all that works with doctors and check-ups and stuff. Luckily I was able to sneak in a physical with my doctor before I lose my current health insurance–’cause we all know that school insurance is less than ideal.

AND, we’ll be moving next week–I’m pretty sure we’re getting the keys this weekend, which is super awesome. Now to do all the moving crap–gods I hope I don’t have to move again for a long time.

Well, this has been a hell of a week already. It was recently sprung on userinfowtbrosie that she needed to get her LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) about a month ago, so we ran around like idiots filling out form after form and check after check in order for her to apply, register and take her LCSW test. It was absolutely ridiculous to be honest, but she was finally able to take the test on Monday–with about 3 days to study. She DID pass, so now she is licensed in the state to shrink peoples’ heads. So there’s a pretty good chance she’s going to have a new job in the relatively near future. Not going to get too excited until she signs the paperwork, but things are looking good in that area.

After a wonderful dinner at Savino’s Grill, we met up with userinfowtbrosie’s friend Stephanie at one of the apartments we’d looked at over the weekend. There was one in Wollaston Beach that we loved, but needed to get Stephanie’s approval before we applied for it since she’s going to be living with us. Well, we filled out all the applications yesterday and are signing for it on Saturday.

I spent the entire weekend moving into userinfowtbrosie’s house. Saturday, userinfobrontosproximo and userinforobthegodofwar joined us to lug junk to my Dad’s house before going geocasheing. That went very quickly, and my Dad took userinfowtbrosie and I out to lunch with my mom and uncle. We decided to head down to the Wrentham Outlets to see if we could find bathing suits and an outfit for userinfowtbrosie since we’re going to a wedding in Florida next month. I had no luck at all other than getting some idea as to what I should look for in a suit, but she made a few purchases, one being a bathing suit bottom that’s super cute!

Sunday was the big move–everything going to userinfowtbrosie’s house. We picked up a truck form a friend, and I’m really happy I decided we weren’t going to have enough time to head into Boston with my friend–we got to my place at 11:30am, and weren’t packed until 4:30!! Apparently my mattress didn’t fit in the truck, so we had to run out for rope. Then it was so hot we took our time packing the cars.

The only stuff of mine that’s even remotely ‘put away’ are my hanging clothes that are in the closet and the few perishable items I took from the fridge. Everything else is all over the living room, so I’m hoping to take care of some of that tonight–like my bureau & nightstand (along with the crap in the drawers and clean clothes unfolded in my hamper).

I spent the weekend relaxing with userinfowtbrosie and playing her new Wii. I’ve played before, but knowing that this is, in a way, MINE is even more satisfying. Although my poor lazy muscles are sore from the unfamiliar amount of activity. Despite the pain I’m currently feeling, Wii is the bed video game system to date! I am so utterly happy with it I really don’t care that I suck. I cannot wait till we get our own place and can have people over to play!

I’m frustrated at the lack of movement in the roommate department. I was really kinda hoping to be moving to userinfowtbrosie’s house this weekend, but it looks like that won’t be happening until May 1 at the earliest since we couldn’t find anyone for April 1. I’d love to get someone for April 15, but that may be cutting it a little tight too. If ANYONE knows someone looking to live in the Somerville/Cambridge line, give them my contact info.
